Overview

Secret Gems is a concept travel app designed to connect travelers with hidden, authentic attractions based on their personal interests and preferences. The project was developed to address a common challenge in travel experiences: overcrowded, highly touristic destinations that often limit genuine connection with local culture. The process began with user research, which revealed that many travelers actively seek less-touristic places, meaningful experiences, and recommendations that feel personal rather than generic. Users expressed a strong desire to explore destinations through a local perspective, while still relying on clear, trustworthy guidance. Based on these insights, Secret Gems was designed around personalized discovery, smart filtering, and locally influenced recommendations. The UX and visual approach emphasizes clarity, calm navigation, and storytelling, allowing users to explore destinations intuitively and at their own pace. The project combines research-driven UX thinking with a thoughtful visual language, aiming to create a travel discovery experience that feels authentic, personal, and connected to place.
